Inspired by a comment by PsychoChris, to perform a gear map, can either be an extremely painful process or one that you do in a relatively short period of time. 

Gear mapping can be intimidating.  Just staring at my last post can be really really intimidating.  A process that I claim doesn’t take THAT long suddenly looks like a huge effort.  And honestly the post I created is amazingly complex.  Its huge and it took me hours to do.  But… that’s because I have to find every item.. create links to them… do all this research… constantly flip back and forth… etc… etc… etc…  Its time consuming because I want to get it right before I publish it.

For your average user, it doesn’t need to be that complex.  Creating a gear map can take minutes not hours if you are educated as to the stats you want to see as well as what you need to maximize your effectiveness. Read the rest of this entry »
