Ignis the Furnace Master Cheat Sheet

Key Abilities!!!

  • Scorch – Causes a rather large flame patch on the ground causing 2-3k damage every half a second to raid members in it.  If the scorched patch is touching water it extinguishes.
  • Flame Jets – 8 second cast time causes 5500 – 6500 damage and launches people up into the air.  Also causes a flame effect that lasts 8 seconds and causes 1000 damage a second.  Interrupts and silences spell casting for 8 seconds if in mid cast when launched into the air.
  • Slag Pot – He throws a raid member in the Slag pot.  Causing 3500 damage a second for 10 seconds.  Raid member gets 100% haste for ten seconds after coming out of the slag pot.
  • Activate Construct – Activates a construct.
  • Strength of the Creator – Ignis gets a +20% bonus to all damage done for each construct currently active.

Strategy:

HARD BURN Strategy

There are a ton of different strategies for killing Ignis.  This strategy relies on a few key points.  It ignores a LOT of the mechanics of the fight.  First and foremost… you’ll be looking at the following raid setup.

1 Tank
2 Healers
7 DPS

Its critical that your healers are comfortable with covering raid healing while healing the tank.  The raid will still take lots of damage from Flame Jets.  You have to heal it.  Plus occasional Slag Pots are brutal.  So you’ll need one healer dedicated solely to the tank.  You’ll need a secondary healer to cover most of the raid as well as the other healer and the tank.

The basic positioning is to set the raid up in one of the pools.  I generally put them so they are swimming.  It might be a good idea to give everyone water breathing in case they end up under water from the Flame Jets.  I recommend not positioning them so their backs are in the waterfall.  This makes it extremely hard to see what’s going on.

The tank will position Ignis so he is pointing out away from the raid, but his scorches will still land in the water.  This makes it so the DPS generally never has to move and if he does pick up anyone, he positions himself perfectly for the tank again.  On example I use is:

………………
cc…………cc
….wwww….
….wwTw….
wwwwIGww
wwRwwMw
wwwwwww

Its crude, but you get the idea.  Ignis is pointed at an angle out of the pool of water.  This gives the tank line of sight on the raid.

The tank, tanks Ignis and ALL of the adds.  The DPS just keeps DPSing as hard as they can barring Flame Jets.  The fight in essence has the water dealing with the scorch.  The tank deals with everything else.

This strategy can be stressful on the tanks and healers, but its a very nice strategy if you’ve got a lot of DPS near or over 3k.
