The summer has been oddly mild in my portion of the world. Its been almost the pefect summer weather all summer long. Nothing like a nice 80-85, no humidity and a nice genetle breeze. But from a WoW perspective we’re in those dog days of summer. Its time to kick back… fire up some recruiting and pull out of the summer slump.
Hitting the Slump
In past years I haven’t noticed the slump quite as much as I did this year. We’re a much smaller guild than before. So while our overflow would go away and we’d be running a little tight, we’d be able to swap around and fill some slots to get where we need to be.
You can’t really blame people. Especially adults with kids have a huge excuse. You only really get the summer with the kids if they are in school. So during that summer you are not only trying to fit in family vacations, but you may have football camp, soccer camp, camp camp, other summer sports, band camp, or any number of other special summer activities that will run late into the night. Your schedule shifts dramatically during the summer. Plus who wouldn’t want to get outside and enjoy a little bit of summer sun???
For our guild we were cranking right along. We’ve downed a lot of content in Ulduar for our time spent, but now we not only got bit by the summer bug which causes a slump in sign ups, we got hit by a couple of healer burn outs. That is pretty crippling in a small guild.
Back to Basics
Its almost innevitable. Unless you’re the best of the best on the server you’re gonna have to back to basics a couple of times in the expansion. Either you need to add depth to your team or you need to gear up someones alternate specs. People change roles and you’re left with a hole.
I’ve watched friends in plenty of raiding guilds to know that they at some point had to back up and go back a raid instance. That’s pretty much where we are. We’re having to go back to Naxx for a few weeks to gear people up. Time to fill out those secondary specs, get people the experience healing and tanking to cross fill roles and then looking at moving forward.
Plus its a time for recruitment. Some guilds won’t be able to get their raiding off the ground anymore. Its a time to look for a few people to fill in those missing slots. Plus its probably not a bad time to swing back through, gear up those people who level a bit slower and give them the chance to catch up to Ulduar ready gear levels.

Gear the nubs! Gear the nubs!
Course I’m just grinding out some Argent Tourney Gear.
Good to have you back though, been a little quiet online…
If you show up I swear to god I’ll let you tank…
and make you regret it late
Another couple weeks and I’ll be back in the raiding business. Ok, so maybe another month or so…a week until I move, a week for travel/settling in the animals, then two weeks for some settling in of me and the honey. But I’ll be back!

Why does it take two weeks to drive from Iowa to California? I’m curious?
You have to stop and gather all the herbs of course!!!
*lol Galo* Considering I might see if any wild white sage is ready…
But I move next Monday – that’s one week.
3 days to drive and another couple days of getting the animals settled and me settled. That’s another week.
Then two weeks of chillaxin together. So 4 weeks.
