Part and parcel with the whole raiding gig is being prepared with all sorts of things.  Flasks (or Elixirs), Individual buffs, raid wide buffs and of course food buffs.  Food buffs can come from a vast array of sources, but theres nothing quite like feeding yourself.  Most people consider cooking to be a complete waste of time.  And if you are fine dumping anywhere from 200-500g a week on buffing food then more power too you.

I personally try to be 100% self sufficient if I can.  But to do that takes a lot of dedication if you want to be eating nothing but the best food they have to offer.  However lets just talk about for now what you CAN eat not necessarily what you can make.  Note you will see some repeats as you progess through this, but I’ll felt it better to group foods by what type of buffs they provide.

Unlike the old BC foods, the new foods are really really good.  Gone are the days of Spirit on every piece of food and in its place you’ll find a nice helping of Stamina.

It would be extremely helpfull if cooks knew what buff foods were best for what class? ie, What is best buff food/recipe for a Prot. Pally?

    Thanks

  2. Starman says:

Buffing for raids is a bit more complex than finding the “best” food for a class. Buffing in general can be done to maximize or to minimize a flaw. So for example my current tank, Allahanastar is struggling to find hit rating on leather items. In this case, its in Alla’s best interest to flask and use food to fill that gap.

Plus you’ll find different specs will require different buffs. Boomkin might really like the MP5 food, the Spellpower food OR the critical strike food. Picking which one is a factor of what their current gear is like. If they are always running out of mana on boss fights they might lean toward the MP5 food. If they always have lots of mana, but they are already pushing the limits on threat, they might lean toward spellpower over crit. Pick the correct buffing food is about understanding how your character/spec is functioning in a heroic/raid setting and using the food to either minimize a defficiency or to add to a strength.
